Training Instructor; officer Courses

The primary purpose of this position is:
To serve as a Technical Training Instructor performing all technical training instructor classroom-related activities, supporting officer curriculum development, modification, and/or revision efforts in initial skills, advanced, and/or supplemental Technical Training course.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, Training Instruction Series, 1712. SPECIALIZED

EXPERIENCE:

Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-09, or equivalent in other pay systems.

• Examples of specialized experience includes Teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment in the appropriate field(s).
• Supervising or administering a training program.
• Development or review of training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluation of training results.
• Work in the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled that required training or instructing others on a regular basis.
• Knowledge of a wide range of instructional concepts, methods, and techniques required to develop and plan a variety of difficult and complex courses associated with teaching advanced technical systems or subject-matter areas.
• Knowledge of the methods, principles, practices, and programs related to curriculum development, instructional techniques, training resources, and test and measurement.
• Knowledge of service-based occupations and the associated training/certification requirements for military and civilian personnel.

OR

EDUCATION:

Successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.M with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled.

A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE You must submit copies of transcipts.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS:
Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-09 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.

NOTE:

Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
