Tooling Specialist

Job Description Summary

The Tooling Technician II (WFO Pr) will be responsible for all operations associated with fulfilling requests and receiving returning orders for Wind Turbine tooling from the North America Tool Center as well as facility daily upkeep and maintenance of tooling. This individual will be responsible for inventory control, build out of tool orders & tool kits, receiving operations, as well as material handling and logistics coordination for tooling to/from the Tool Center.

• Maintains a safe, clean, and well-organized work area at all times.
• Responsible for basic (visual, electrical, & mechanical) inspections of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic tooling and lift equipment used in wind turbine installation, maintenance, and repair.
• Provide excellent customer service, detailed inventory control, and on‑time shipping and receiving of wind turbine installation, service, and repair tools.
• Use expertise and a systematic approach to problem solving to identify and solve equipment electrical, mechanical, and/or hydraulic problems.
• Perform operations checks, minor preventative maintenance/repairs, and inspections on wind‑specific industrial tooling such as lifting devices, hydraulic & electrical torque tools, mechanical tools, and measuring devices.
• Prepare all logistical requirements for processing tool orders, shipping and returns using established inventory control systems and procedures.
• Assemble and inventory tooling kits with detailed documentation required by commissioning and services personnel.
• Learn and execute international customs and all other import/export shipment of tools.
• Analyze and recommend spare tooling/part inventory levels; organize stock for orderly storage and monitor availability.
• Update and maintain Maximo inventory/asset management system per established processes.
• Perform purchasing functions to include sourcing & bidding and purchase order creation.
• Demonstrate a high level of attention to EHS & 5S standards.

• High School Diploma or GED, AND Internal; 2+ years work experience as a Wind Technician, OR External; 2+ years of comparable work experience as a Wind Technician, OR Associates Degree or 2‑yr Technical Degree from an accredited college, university, or technical college with 4 years of hydraulic, electrical, mechanical work experience; OR Internal;
  Associates Degree or 2‑yr Technical Degree with 6 years of applicable warehouse experience and relevant experience in electrical, mechanical, or hydraulic processes.
• Ability and willingness to obtain a Forklift Certification.
• Ability to learn and use an inventory control program.
• Handle repetitive weight up to 45 lbs (without assist) and +45 lbs (with assist).
• Availability to support the operation on off‑hours and seven days a week as required.
• Ability to work within a team environment, ask questions, and provide feedback.

• Ability to strictly follow GE inventory processes and procedures.
• Preferably experience with Maximo.
• Wind turbine installation and maintenance experience.
• Ability to interpret technical manuals, procedures, and regulations.
• Ability to work with a variety of personnel at all levels at the Tool Center, suppliers, and Wind Sites.
• Heavy lift equipment familiarity: crane, rigging, below‑hook lifting equipment technical knowledge.
• Prior tool maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, or distribution experience.
• Working understanding of the operation, maintenance, or repair of modern industrial electronic, hydraulic, and mechanical tooling or heavy lift equipment and lifting devices.
• Safety focused inventory control experience.
• High degree of customer service and a sense of urgency for tools fulfillment to customers.
• Ability and willingness to take initiative and work without direct supervision.
• Working understanding of Microsoft applications:
  Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, BOX, and Smartsheets.

• Ability to strictly follow GE inventory processes and procedures as directed, preferably experience with Maximo.
• Ability to learn and use an inventory control program.
