Diesel Fitter

Stawell Gold Mine (SGM) is a well-established underground mining operation located in the historic goldfields of Stawell, 236 km north‑west of Melbourne.

Our mine has a proud legacy in gold exploration and production, and today we continue to build on that heritage with a strong focus on safety, teamwork, and operational excellence.

We currently have openings for qualified Diesel Fitters to join our maintenance team. Residential role working 7/7 roster.

Reporting to the Diesel Maintenance Supervisor, you’ll be responsible for maintaining and repairing SGM’s fleet of underground mobile diesel equipment to the highest standard.

• Performing routine maintenance, repairs, and diagnostics on light and heavy diesel equipment (including underground).
• Troubleshooting and resolving breakdowns efficiently to minimise downtime.
• Maintaining workshop tools and equipment to a high standard.
• Completing maintenance documentation accurately and on time.
• Upholding SGM’s commitment to health, safety, and environmental excellence.
• Supporting apprentices and contributing to a strong team culture.

• Trade qualification in Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology (AUR
  31120) or Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology (AUR
  31220) or equivalent. (heavy vehicle preferred but not essential).
• Solid experience working on mobile diesel equipment (underground experience highly regarded).
• Strong commitment to safe work practices and continuous improvement.
• Good computer literacy and attention to detail with maintenance records.
• Current Victorian Driver’s Licence.
• Hydraulic or electrical experience (advantageous).
