Overview:
The Mechanical Engineer, based in Horsham, PA, will be responsible for the mechanical design and development of complex wafer processing equipment field upgrade kits involving wet processing technologies used in the manufacturing of advanced semiconductors, LEDs, displays, photonics, VCSELs, power electronics, compound semiconductors, hard disk drives, MEMS and wireless chips. This is a key member of the Engineered to Order (ETO) team.
The engineer will work closely with engineering leadership, cross-functional engineering team members, sales, marketing, and field service team members. This role involves automation, gas and fluid delivery, with a concentration on fluidic design, mechanical design, and system packaging for systems already installed at customer sites.
Responsibilities:
- Develop fluidic design, mechanical design, and system packaging for ETO upgrades to existing single wafer processing systems in the field.
- Develop subassemblies and components for wet processing technologies.
- Provide mechanical engineering expertise, while focusing on design quality, reliability, effective cost, and ease installations to be done in the field.
- Create work instructions for field installation upgrades.
- Define mechanical design specifications based on customer requirements and company capabilities.
- Ensure that manufacturing processes are compliant with standard design practices and safety codes; ensure appropriate tests are in place to produce reliable products in a repeatable manner.
- Perform analytical studies and theoretical calculations, requiring a variety of engineering knowledge, including analysis of vessels, heat transfer, material structural analysis, static and dynamic, fluids, motion mechanisms.
- Prepare presentations and present design concepts, ideas, and test results to internal and external customers.
- Provide expertise in mechanical engineering while participating in design reviews.
- Support procurement efforts in correlation with overall project deadlines.
- Provide “hands-on” assistance and support to the manufacturing team.
- Create and release engineering documentation through the ECO process.
- Support Program Management with project flow through the Product Life Cycle (PLC) Phase gates.
- Understand and adhere to various industry standards.
Qualifications:
BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 2 years of experience designing or manufacturing capital equipment, subassemblies, and components, or an MS degree in Mechanical Engineering with no experience is required. MS degree preferred. Experience with Solid Works and AutoCAD, or similar 3D CAD systems is required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment as part of a multi-disciplinary team, able to take initiative, own full projects, and/or lead a small project team.
