A national, employee‑owned engineering and construction organization is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead and deliver complex building systems projects.
This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of high‑impact HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection designs
, ranging from ground‑up design/build work to the rehabilitation of existing facilities.
This position is ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges, mentoring junior staff, and providing trusted technical leadership throughout the full project lifecycle.
What You’ll Do- Lead, evaluate, design, and engineer HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and related building systems
- Perform complex engineering calculations, including:
- Heating and cooling load analysis
- Equipment selection and sizing
- Hydraulic and friction loss calculations
- Develop and refine engineering standards, methods, and review procedures
- Identify efficient, code‑compliant solutions to complex technical challenges
- Provide ongoing technical guidance and resolve engineering issues throughout design and construction
- Direct and mentor less‑experienced engineers, overseeing workflows and design quality
- Prepare technical narratives and written responses to RFIs
- Review drawings, specifications, and system designs to ensure constructability and performance
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
- 5+ years of mechanical or MEP systems engineering experience
- Strong expertise in HVAC, plumbing, fire suppression, and overall building systems operations
- Ability to interpret and review mechanical and plumbing design documents
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong computer skills, including CADD platforms and Microsoft Office
