OverviewVeeco (Horsham) is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented, and results-driven Senior Production Planner to thrive in a fast-paced, high-energy manufacturing environment. In this role, you will take a leadership position in driving end-to-end production planning strategies, aligning supply chain execution with business objectives, inventory optimization, and new product development.
As a senior member of the team, you will own and optimize the Master Production Schedule (MPS) for sub-assemblies and ensure alignment with system-level build plans to maximize on-time delivery and operational efficiency. You will serve as a key liaison across Procurement, Logistics, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Customer Operations, while also mentoring junior planners and driving continuous improvement initiatives across planning processes and material flow.
Responsibilities- Production Planning & Scheduling: Own and drive the Master Production Schedule (MPS) across systems, sub-assemblies, and critical components to meet delivery and revenue targets. Analyze MRP signals, manage order releases in ERP (SAP preferred), and continuously optimize detailed schedules based on capacity, material availability, and lead times. Lead rescheduling efforts to address disruptions (e.g., shortages, engineering changes, capacity constraints) while monitoring WIP to maintain efficient production flow and cycle times.
- Aftermarket (Spares) Planning & Execution: Manage end-to-end planning and execution of aftermarket orders, ensuring high service levels and rapid response to customer demand. Balance priorities between spares and new builds, coordinate with Customer Service, Field Service, and Logistics on commitments and fulfillment, and manage shortages through allocation strategies. Develop stocking strategies and safety stock policies for high-demand and long-lead items.
- Upgrades & Retrofit Planning: Plan and schedule product upgrades, retrofits, and engineering-driven modifications. Collaborate with Engineering, Product Management, and Field Service to align BOMs, kits, and timelines, ensuring material and documentation readiness. Integrate upgrade demand into overall production plans while mitigating risks related to engineering changes, obsolescence, and part substitutions.
- Cross-Functional Coordination & Communication: Act as a central liaison across Manufacturing, Procurement, Engineering, Logistics, Sales, and Customer Support. Lead cross-functional planning reviews, align supply and demand priorities, resolve constraints, and communicate proactively on risks, material availability, and delivery commitments.
- Change Management & Continuous Improvement: Evaluate and implement Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) with minimal disruption to production and aftermarket operations, and drive planning adjustments related to obsolescence, redesigns, and part substitutions.
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, or related field with a minimum of 5+ years of production planning in a manufacturing environment (high-tech or capital equipment preferred). APICS certification (CPIM/CSCP) strongly preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
