Manufacturing Engineer
Job Description
The Manufacturing Engineer will support prototype development and early-stage production builds, focusing on assembling, testing, and troubleshooting products on the shop floor. This role works closely with design, production, quality, and supplier teams to improve manufacturability, develop robust processes and tooling, resolve build issues, and create clear documentation that enables efficient, high-quality production.
Responsibilities
+ Support prototype development and early-stage production builds for complex mechanical and electromechanical products.
+ Assemble, test, and troubleshoot products directly on the shop floor to ensure reliable performance and product quality.
+ Partner with design, production, quality, and supplier teams to improve product manufacturability and streamline build processes.
+ Develop, design, and refine assembly jigs, fixtures, and production tooling that enhance efficiency and consistency.
+ Create, maintain, and improve technical documentation, including work instructions and process documentation, to support clear and repeatable manufacturing practices.
+ Identify build issues during assembly and testing, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
+ Apply continuous improvement methodologies to reduce waste, improve throughput, and optimize production workflows.
+ Leverage Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles to improve process capability, reduce variation, and enhance product quality.
+ Use Solid Works and/or AutoCAD to analyze, modify, and develop models that support tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing processes.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure new designs are compatible with manufacturing capabilities and cost targets.
+ Support the transition from prototype builds to stable, repeatable production by refining processes, tooling, and documentation.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
+ 5+ years of hands-on experience developing and building complex mechanical or electromechanical products in a regulated industry such as medical devices or aerospace.
+ Proven experience designing and building assembly jigs, fixtures, and production tooling for manufacturing environments.
+ Strong manufacturing engineering experience with practical shop floor experience in assembly, testing, and troubleshooting.
+ Proficiency in Solid Works and/or AutoCAD for analyzing, modifying, and developing 3D models and engineering drawings.
+ Demonstrated experience with continuous improvement and waste reduction initiatives using Lean manufacturing methodologies.
+ Working knowledge of Six Sigma principles and tools to support process improvement and quality enhancement.
+ Ability to create clear, accurate, and detailed technical documentation and work instructions.
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for diagnosing build issues and implementing effective solutions.
+ Ability to collaborate effectively with design, production, quality, and supplier teams in a cross-functional environment.
Additional
Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience working in highly regulated environments such as medical device or aerospace manufacturing.
+ Experince in both mechanical and electromechanical product development and production.
+ Familiarity with continuous improvement frameworks and structured problem-solving approaches.
+ Comfort working directly on the shop floor and translating real-world observations into process and design improvements.
+ Attention to detail and a focus on producing clear, user-friendly documentation for manufacturing teams.
Work Environment
This role operates in a hands-on manufacturing environment with frequent work on the shop floor, directly engaging with assembly, testing, and troubleshooting activities. The Manufacturing Engineer collaborates closely with design, production, quality, and supplier teams, using tools such as Solid Works and AutoCAD to support models, fixtures, and tooling. The environment emphasizes continuous improvement, Lean manufacturing, and Six Sigma practices…
