The Director, Global Medical Affairs Strategy and Execution is responsible for cross-therapeutic area strategy and process oversight. This position supports the strategic objectives of the Global Medical Affairs function. The Strategy and Execution Lead will partner across Medical Affairs therapeutic areas and regions on strategy and operational aspects of the Global Medical Affairs Function, including:
Key Responsibilities:
- Consolidated global medical affairs plans (including integrated evidence generation plans) for compounds in development that reflect prioritized regional needs and support medical launch excellence
- Global Medical Affairs Team management and coordination
- Development and execution of globally funded medical strategies including but not limited to thought leader engagement, comprehensive engagement strategies, congress plans, external data landscapes, internal training, sponsor ships, and IIS intake and review.
- Leading strategic initiatives including implementation and improvements
- Co-lead the disease area/product business planning process, including the development strategies, tactics, execution plan and budget. Accountable for budget oversight and working with finance to track budget and quarterly targets.
- Provides subject matter expertise and execution support for cross-pharma standard operating procedures and processes including ReCAP, Advisory Boards, Publications, Methods Review and Collaborative / Investigator-Initiated Study (IIS) concepts.
- Acts as standing or ad-hoc member for various cross-functional teams, provides scientific/medical and operational perspectives to the global strategic organizations.
- Manages the development and execution of global scientific communication strategy, internal knowledge exchange and dissemination in partnership with GMALs, TA VP, and DAS Leads, as appropriate.
- GMA SharePoint Site Management/Scientific and Knowledge Information Management
- Ensure optimal project and vendor management in the execution of GMA strategies and tactics; develop sourcing strategies and effective partnerships with vendors/agencies and other key external partners.
Education:
• A minimum of a bachelor's degree is required, with an advanced degree preferred
Experience and Skills:
Required:
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience is required
- Experience in a medical, clinical or scientific environment is required
- Project leadership skills and strong organizational skills is required.
- Demonstrated collaboration skills, agility, ability to resolve conflict, influence teams, and to build relationships in meeting organizational objectives, without formal authority is required.
- Ability to thrive in areas of ambiguity and influence change in a matrixed environment is required.
- Ability to drive multiple simultaneous projects forward to completion while maintaining focus on the long-term strategy is required.
- Critical thinking and strong communication skills, both written and oral, are required.
- Proven experience in driving results in a highly complex and rapidly changing environment is required.
- Experience acting as a liaison to information technology (IT), health care compliance and procurement is preferred
- Experience managing contractors and/or medical affairs vendors (e.g., publication, advisory board, meeting planning) is preferred.
- Global mindset with proven track record to partner cross culturally and regionally is preferred.
- Experience navigating partnerships and implementing process alignment is preferred.
