Overview

Veeco (Horsham) is seeking an experienced, detail‑oriented, results‑driven Buyer to thrive in a fast‑paced, high‑energy manufacturing environment. As a Buyer, you will process all assigned requirements into purchase orders and perform all post‑order management work to ensure services or materials being procured are completed on time and in compliance with Veeco purchasing procedures and objectives.

Responsibilities
  • Place purchase orders for assigned vendors or commodities utilizing MRP or other planning strategies.
  • Perform all steps in the procurement process with accuracy and care to avoid economic loss and customer dissatisfaction.
  • Maintain schedules over the life of the purchase order including receipt of the requisition, placement of the order, manage expedites/reschedules, cancelations/past‑due orders, acceptance of the assigned material into stock, and resolution of invoice discrepancies.
  • Process rejected materials and returns per guidelines and assure corrective action is taken as necessary.
  • Coordinate the execution of Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
  • Request quotations with vendors. Negotiate price, lead‑time, and delivery.
  • Listen and understand issues. Communicate expectations, requirements, and issues with suppliers and stakeholders across departments and business units.
  • Independently anticipate, identify, analyze, and resolve most supply‑chain problems within the limits of delegated authority; communicate and involve manager and stakeholders as necessary.
  • Support global sourcing strategies and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Facilitate small groups effectively; design and manage working sessions.
  • Manage supplier relationships and performance to meet company expectations and objectives.
  • Maintain data that enables the effectiveness of company systems and processes.
  • React to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.
Qualifications

A Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain or related field with a minimum of 2 years of buying experience in a manufacturing or high‑technology environment is required. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of spreadsheets, including working with and manipulating data.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • Proficient in MS Excel and experience using an MRP system, preferably SAP.
  • Must be detail‑oriented and able to multitask.
  • Negotiating skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Salary And Benefits

The expected salary range for this position is $57,039—$83,657, plus a bonus opportunity. We will consider your location, experience, and other job‑related factors when determining your pay.
