Overview

We are seeking a hands‑on Manufacturing Engineer who is a technical expert directly responsible for the development, construction, and refinement of product prototypes and initial production builds. The engineer will spend significant time on the factory floor to assemble parts, test equipment, and troubleshoot build issues in real time, and will act as the primary liaison between design, production, and quality teams.

Responsibilities
  • Prototype and product builds: Lead and participate directly in the assembly of prototypes and low‑volume production products, performing hands‑on work with tools and machinery.
  • Process development and tooling: Design and create manufacturing aids, jigs, and fixtures to support the assembly and build process.
  • Shop floor support: Provide direct, daily technical support to technicians and assembly line personnel, troubleshooting build problems and implementing immediate corrective actions.
  • Design for Manufacturability (DFM): Work closely with the design engineering team to ensure components are easily and efficiently assembled, providing hands‑on feedback and suggesting improvements.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain detailed, easy‑to‑follow build instructions, SOPs, and work instructions for production staff based on practical experience.
  • Root‑cause analysis: Investigate build failures and quality issues by hands‑on inspection and testing, using methodologies such as 5 Whys to determine and address the root cause of production problems.
  • Equipment installation and testing: Assist in the installation, testing, and maintenance of new or modified manufacturing equipment, ensuring it meets build requirements.
  • Supplier collaboration: Work with suppliers and vendors to confirm part quality, assess components, and troubleshoot any issues related to materials or parts.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or a related engineering field is required with a minimum of 2 years of hands‑on experience developing and building complex mechanical or electromechanical products; or a Master’s degree with no experience. Experience with aerospace hardware, automotive systems, or precision assemblies should be highlighted.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Technical Skills
  • Proficient in methodologies for continuous improvement and waste reduction, specifically lean manufacturing and Six Sigma.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and building assembly jigs, fixtures, and production tooling.
  • Proficient in CAD software such as Solid Works or AutoCAD.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering prints, electrical schematics, and other technical documentation.
  • Proven ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical and electromechanical issues on the production floor.
  • For complex products, hands‑on experience integrating mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, or pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to analyze production data, performance metrics, and trends to recommend improvements.

Salary and Benefits

The expected salary range for this position is $72,313–$106,059, plus a bonus opportunity.
