Summary

• Oversee part inspection activities, including operating manual measurement tools and coordinate measuring machines (CMMs). Responsible for inspecting and verifying the precision and accuracy of parts in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and design standards.

• Coordinate equipment calibration activities with both internal teams and external service providers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Setting up and operating the coordinate measuring machines to measure parts and components accurately. This can include both manual and automated CMM systems.
  • Inspecting parts to ensure they meet required specifications, measuring attributes like dimensions, angles, surface roughness, and positioning of holes or features.
  • Reviewing measurement data to identify any discrepancies or defects to determine whether the part or component is within the allowable tolerances.
  • Recording inspection results, documenting any deviations, and providing reports to engineers or managers.
  • Working to maintain high standards of quality assurance, ensuring that products meet industry standards and customer requirements

· Prepare and update Company and Customer inspection records as required.

· Communicate inspection results effectively with co-workers and supervisors.

· Understand and use concepts like tolerance stack-up and GD&T.

· Use basic statistical techniques for evaluation of measurement data and trending.

· Have a basic understanding of machining processes to support communications of findings to the production floor.

· Maintain records of calibration for various measurement equipment as required.

· Schedule calibration work with internal customers and external providers.

· Train others on inspection techniques and tools.

· Work closely with engineering to determine documentation and job requirements.

· Perform safe operation of machines.

· Accurately completes all required paperwork.

· Keep machines and work area clean and organized at all times.

· Abide by and support all safety and quality system requirements.

· Provide good feedback and promote good communication.

· Promote and live company culture.

· ERP (Epicor) and database knowledge helpful, but not required

Education and/or Experience

· 2 Years College, High School diploma or equivalent

· Requires great attention to detail and the ability to read drawings and specifications

· Previous experience in lab and/or manufacturing mechanical product inspection

· ASQ certification preferred, but not required

Language Skills

· Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
