Maintenance Technician – JLL
The Maintenance Technician is essential to maintaining safe, functional, and well-maintained facilities that support our clients' daily operations. This hands-on role focuses on performing skilled maintenance and repair work across multiple building systems, including plumbing, heating, electrical, painting, and general building upkeep. You'll respond to maintenance requests, complete preventive maintenance tasks, and ensure all work meets safety and quality standards. Working in a laboratory environment requires attention to detail, adherence to strict safety protocols, and the ability to minimize operational disruptions.

What your day-to-day will look like:
- Perform basic plumbing repairs and maintenance including fixture repairs, drain clearing, leak detection, and water system troubleshooting to ensure proper facility operations
- Conduct heating system maintenance, troubleshoot HVAC issues, and perform routine inspections to maintain comfortable and compliant environmental conditions
- Replace light fixtures, bulbs, and ballast throughout the facility; perform basic electrical maintenance while following all safety protocols
- Complete painting projects including surface preparation, interior/exterior painting, touch-ups, and finishing work to maintain professional facility appearance
- Replace damaged or worn ceiling tiles, ensuring proper installation and alignment while maintaining aesthetic and acoustic standards
- Perform carpet repairs and replacements, including patch work, seam repairs, and coordinating with vendors for larger carpet installation projects
- Respond to work orders in a timely manner, maintain accurate documentation of all maintenance activities, and communicate status updates to supervisors and facility users
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2-3 years of hands-on experience in facilities maintenance with demonstrated proficiency in plumbing, heating systems, electrical work, painting, and general building repairs
- Previous experience working in laboratory environments or other specialized facilities requiring strict safety and compliance protocols
- Strong understanding of basic plumbing systems, heating/HVAC fundamentals, electrical safety, and building maintenance best practices
- Ability to read and interpret work orders, maintenance manuals, and basic technical diagrams
- Physical ability to perform manual labor including lifting up to 50 lbs, working on ladders, and accessing confined spaces
- Strong attention to detail with ability to identify potential issues and complete quality work with minimal supervision
- Excellent time management skills with ability to prioritize multiple work orders and respond to urgent maintenance needs
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with laboratory-specific systems including fume hood maintenance, specialty gas systems, or cleanroom environments
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification, or willingness to obtain upon hire
- Basic certifications in plumbing, HVAC, or electrical trades
- Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) for work order tracking and documentation
- Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and environmental compliance requirements specific to laboratory settings
- Experience coordinating with vendors and contractors for specialized repair work
- Strong customer service skills with ability to communicate effectively with scientists, researchers, and facility management teams
