Backend Developer, SQL Developer, Software Engineer, .NET Developer
We have been exclusively retained by a well-established global manufacturer to hire a Dynamics 365 Technical Engineer for its Business Applications team, strengthening its internal Microsoft Dynamics development capabilities and supporting a growing global technology environment.
This is a highly hands-on role for someone who enjoys building, debugging, and improving enterprise applications rather than simply designing solutions and handing them off. The primary focus will be Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations and X++ development, with additional work across Power Platform, Dataverse, integrations, and Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement.
The opportunity is particularly well suited for a developer who wants more ownership. You will work closely with experienced technical leadership, business analysts, and process optimization teams, while gradually becoming an internal technical owner of the Dynamics platform. There is also a natural path toward broader solution design and architecture responsibilities as your knowledge of the environment grows.
This is a direct-hire position based in Horsham, PA, with a hybrid schedule of three days per week in the office.
The Role You’ll PlayYou will serve as a key hands-on technical resource within a small global Business Applications team. Rather than working on one narrow piece of a large development environment, you will have meaningful ownership from functional requirements through development, testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and delivery.
- Develop, debug, extend, and support Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations applications using X++, including enhancements to reporting, documents, data visualization, and business functionality.
- Build and support solutions within Microsoft Power Platform and Dataverse, while developing deeper ownership of the company's Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement environment.
- Translate functional design documents into working technical solutions and provide feedback when technical considerations require changes to the original design.
- Own development work through the first level of testing and validation, ensuring solutions function as intended before being returned to business users for final evaluation.
- Troubleshoot application issues through debugging, database investigation, and collaboration with business analysts and users to determine what is happening behind the scenes.
- Develop and support integrations using technologies such as REST APIs, OData, Dual-write, Dataverse, and other Microsoft integration capabilities.
- Maintain strong development governance through Azure Dev Ops, source control, documentation, naming conventions, technical standards, and consistent development practices across internal and external resources.
- Coordinate with outside development partners on larger initiatives, review and integrate their work, and help bring additional Dynamics and Power Platform knowledge in-house over time.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on Dynamics developer who wants broader responsibility than simply completing assigned coding tasks. You understand why a solution is being built, can see how it fits into the surrounding business process, and take responsibility for delivering quality work all the way through testing and validation.
You do not need to be a senior Solution Architect today. The stronger fit is someone with solid technical fundamentals, good judgment, and enough breadth across the Microsoft ecosystem to grow into greater solution ownership over time.
- 4-6 years of hands-on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations technical development experience, with strong X++ development, debugging, and extension skills.
- Practical Power Platform and Dataverse development experience. F&O/X++ expertise should be stronger, but Power Platform needs to go beyond basic familiarity.
- Experience developing or supporting enterprise integrations using REST APIs, OData, Dual-write, Dataverse, or similar integration patterns.
- Experience working with Azure Dev Ops, source control, release processes, and structured development standards.
- Understanding of business processes and transactional workflows in areas such as manufacturing, warehousing, supply chain, sales, purchasing, or finance.
- Ability to work independently, evaluate your own work, troubleshoot problems, and take development assignments through testing and completion without requiring constant technical oversight.
- Experience working across the full context of a development effort, including understanding requirements, technical approach, integrations, business purpose, testing, and final outcome.
Preferred:
Microsoft Dynamics certifications and a bachelor's degree are welcome but are not required when demonstrated technical ability and relevant experience are strong.
