Material Handler
Overview
Surmodics Services & Technologies (SST) is committed to providing the best in developing, manufacturing, and applying coatings on medical devices. We are looking for a Warehouse Associate to be part of a team-oriented environment. To be successful the associate will have experience with the job tasks, a positive attitude, like to interact with a variety of departments, and be willing to learn.
Annual Compensation Range: $50,000-$56,000
Responsibilities- Ensure accurate, efficient, and safe handling of merchandise during receiving, storage, and shipping
- Receive, offload, sort, store and retrieve products per regulations
- Assist in the shipping department
- Log incoming and outgoing packages with the use of a ERP system
- Collaborate and communicate with all departments to ensure proper flow of incoming materials and devices
- Inspect various safety equipment and fire extinguishers on a routine basis
- Maintain inventory levels, complete a weekly inventory count, and place inventory orders as needed
- Follow all safety requirements and maintain the work area
This position does not require working with heavy warehouse machinery such as a forklift
Skills & Requirements- High School diploma or GED required
- Warehouse, shipping & receiving experience preferred
- Excellent documentation skills
- Interest in working for a small company and warehouse; warehouse is under 2,000 sqft.
- Willing to be trained in handling dangerous goods to assist with packing materials
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, problem solving abilities, flexible team player
- Comfortable working on a computer, basic computer skills required
- Must be an independent worker and self-starter capable of managing issues within the normal course and scope of the position with limited supervision

Physical Requirements
Physical requirements are those that could be reasonably anticipated given the job duties and work environment. Exposure to hazardous chemicals in certain areas of the office. Must wear required personal protective equipment while demonstrating safe working practices.
Physical Demands:
Stooping, turning, bending, squatting, kneeling and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds; constant/repetitive standing; requires normal, correctable vision and hearing, and the ability to accurately discern color as necessary to perform job functions.
