Daycare Support Staff

DAYCARE SUPPORT STAFF Purpose Statement

The job of Daycare Support Staff was established for the purpose of caring for children and providing support to the daycare facility by cultivating an environment in which children and their parents can feel safe, secure, and receive quality childcare.

• Daycare support staff is responsible for direct care and supervision of children attending the daycare.

• Reports directly to the Daycare Facility/Operation Director.
• Maintain a safe, enjoyable and developmentally appropriate environment for children.
• Provide direct and constant supervision and care for children, including setting schedules and routines, feeding, changing diapers, cleaning rooms, and sanitizing toys.
• Develop and encourage age-appropriate learning and socialization.
• Ensure children are learning positive behaviors by modeling and reinforcing positive interactions, communication, manners, sharing, etc.
• Utilize classroom management software to keep records and communicate with families.
• Work with parents to help children progress towards developmental goals.

• Must possess exceptional interpersonal skills with children and adults alike.
• Must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills in order to communicate with parents, staff, and children.
• Must be organized and have strong multitasking skills.
• Must demonstrate decisiveness, patience, and attentiveness when caring for children.
• Must have an appropriate code of ethics for working with children.
• Must be flexible and able to react appropriately to changing circumstances.
• Must be able to maintain a cool composure in times of crisis.
• Must understand the importance of confidentiality and hold oneself to high standards when it comes to the privacy of information and individuals.
• Must complete required trainings in a timely manner, pursuant to Wyoming DFS licensing standards.

Time is spent in the daycare facility providing childcare.

Must be able to pass a background check for both the District and Department of Family Services for each state of residency for the past years.

Must have or be able to obtain all CPR and First Aid certifications.
