The Emergency Medical Sciences instructor will work with a team to create-classroom, clinical, and laboratory learning activities in the Emergency Medical Services programs. The EMS Instructor is responsible for all aspects of the program including administration, continuous review and analysis, student advising, and committee work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Continuous review, planning, evaluation of the program for effectiveness and achievement of accreditation standards.
  • Student advising and nursing and college committee work will be expected.
  • Instructs students in specialized educational programs by lecturing in classroom and laboratory settings and developing and providing individual instruction as required.
  • Interprets policies, programs and procedures related to the delivery of services.
  • Seeks, selects and uses resources compatible with student/program needs.
  • Implements a variety of strategies or approaches to meet the needs of students, including consulting with students, families and school staff, as necessary.
  • Assesses and documents attainment of program objectives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Required skills/abilities:
  • Ability to communicate with written and oral expertise in the English language
  • Ability to promote an effective environment for learning in lecture and lab experiences
  • Ability to teach students from diverse cultural and social backgrounds
  • Instruction using classroom and the Learning Management System (LMS). The instructor is expected to actively engage students in lecture and practical application, while effectively using the LMS to enhance the instructional experience
  • Attendance at annual advisory board/department meetings and other meetings as requested by the program director
  • Mandatory annual participation in continuing education activities
  • Annual completion of course assessment information
Education and Experience:
  • Must be a licensed Arkansas Paramedic and EMS Instructor.
  • Must possess a minimum of an associate’s degree in Paramedicine, Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand throughout the day.
