Job Description:
This full‑time, home‑based position seeks a certified Middle School CTE Business, Family and Consumer Sciences, or Computer Science teacher (CRE/CTE) for the Arkansas Virtual Academy (ARVA). The role is remote and requires residence in Arkansas.
Start date:
School Year 2026/27.
- Provide synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences for students.
- Design and deliver personalized instruction that meets high expectations for all students.
- Differentiated instruction based on student mastery levels.
- Enhance designated course content using approved self‑paced and live tools, following school and county guidance.
- Maintain accurate grade books, monitor academic integrity, make placement and promotion decisions, and report concerns to administrators.
- Prepare students for high‑stakes standardized tests.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with families, communicating regularly and responding promptly.
- Troubleshoot basic technical issues for students and learning coaches within the virtual classroom environment, in line with academy policies.
- Apply knowledge of State, National, and Industry standards to instruction.
- Develop supplemental instructional tools and strategies to enhance the provided curriculum.
- Collaborate consistently with the school and national professional learning community.
- Administer and proctor certification assessments where applicable.
- Act as an advisor for the Career & Technical Student Organization.
- Support the CTE Program Coordinator and school/program staff in building industry partnerships for work‑based learning experiences.
- Advocate a project‑based learning model.
- Travel up to 20% of the time for face‑to‑face professional development, student testing, and/or other school needs.
- Bachelor's degree.
- Active state teaching license.
- Successful completion of a required background check.
- Collaborate with colleagues to produce numeric, tabular, and graphic representations of student data for instructional decisions.
- Receive and implement coaching from administrators and teacher trainers.
- Adapt to change and embrace new approaches to achieve excellent student outcomes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms.
- Maintain teacher certification, professional development hours, and fluency in K12 systems, programs, and curriculum.
- Experience teaching the proposed age group.
- Experience supporting diverse learners in technology use.
- Experience teaching in online (virtual) and/or brick‑and‑mortar environments.
- Experience with online learning platforms.
- Home‑based position, requiring a professional work space conducive to a 9‑5 or 8‑4 schedule.
- Workload of 40+ hours per week, primarily independent.
- May require travel up to 20% of the time.
