Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse specializing in Labor & Delivery will provide comprehensive nursing care to mothers and newborns in a Critical Access Hospital setting. This role involves labor and delivery support, postpartum care, and mother-baby care, ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the childbirth process. The nurse will collaborate closely with the healthcare team to deliver high-quality, compassionate care in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide skilled nursing care during labor and delivery, postpartum, and mother-baby care.
  • Perform patient assessments, monitor vital signs, and manage patient comfort and safety.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
  • Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement care plans.
  • Educate patients and families on postpartum care, newborn care, and breastfeeding support.
  • Document patient care activities accurately and timely in medical records.
  • Respond to obstetric emergencies and provide appropriate interventions.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and supportive environment for patients and families.
Required Skills &

Certifications:
  • Active Registered Nurse license in the state of Wisconsin.
  • Minimum of 2 years nursing experience, preferably in labor and delivery or maternal-child health.
  • Clinical skills in labor and delivery, postpartum care, and newborn care.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field preferred.
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
Preferred Skills &

Certifications:
  • Experience working in a Critical Access Hospital or similar rural healthcare setting.
  • Additional certifications such as Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) or Inpatient Obstetric Nursing (RNC-OB).
  • Experience with electronic medical records and documentation systems.
Special Considerations:
  • Work primarily in a labor and delivery/postpartum environment with mother and baby care.
  • Ability to respond promptly to obstetric emergencies.
  • Must be able to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.
Scheduling:
  • Day shift schedule.
  • Shift assignments based on hospital staffing needs and patient census.
