Security Officer

Oaklawn is seeking a dedicated Security Officer to monitor property, enforce underage prevention and control access to restricted areas. The candidate will respond to incidents, ensure the safety of guests and team members, and provide safety escorts as required.

• Monitor property, enforce underage prevention, control access to restricted areas, react to guests and team member incidents, provide safety escorts.
• Deliver excellent guest service in accordance with Oaklawn's Core Values and Standards of Behavior.
• Ensure compliance with operational procedures for activities such as guest service standards, fire prevention, emergency response, guarding, patrolling, orienting and monitoring of personnel, and responding to accidents and criminal acts.
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory controls and enforce state casino laws, including identifying and removing underage persons from the casino floor.
• Respond to verbal and/or physical altercations, applying or directing appropriate measures to resolve the situation.
• Adhere to scheduling and coordinate with manager, enforce internal control policies and procedures.
• Conduct regular security post inspections, prepare incident reports and maintain security logs.
• Patrol (on foot) designated areas to prevent theft, violence, safety issues and hazards; check locked areas to keep them secure.
• Respond to all security calls and alarms in a timely manner, operating communication equipment safely and according to company policy.
• Perform escorts of company funds in a safe, secure, timely, and proper manner.
• Provide assistance, directions, and answers to questions in a professional, courteous manner.
• Perform daily duties and other miscellaneous job‑related duties as assigned; stay informed of and follow safety and emergency action procedures.
• Complete all security department paperwork timely and efficiently; maintain strict confidentiality and a positive professional image.
• Maintain a calm, professional, and friendly demeanor; demonstrate superior guest service and interpersonal skills.

• At least 21 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1+ year security or similar experience preferred; guest service experience is a must.
• Ability to interact with guests, staff and colleagues and resolve problems and conflicts diplomatically and tactfully.
• Ability to maintain a calm, professional and friendly demeanor in all situations.
• Experience handling and defusing hostile, intoxicated or upset individuals professionally and calmly.
• Ability to use a hand‑held radio for communications.
• Flexible to work all shifts, including holidays, nights, weekends, and overtime as business needs dictate.
• Strong computer skills.
• Possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.

Must qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state and local regulations.
