The Fuel Desk Cashier provides friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable service to every guest while operating the fuel desk and point-of-sale systems. This position is responsible for accurately processing transactions, maintaining a clean and organized store environment, stocking merchandise, and following all company policies and applicable regulations. The Fuel Desk Cashier helps create a welcoming experience for guests while supporting the overall operation of the travel plaza.
- Greet every guest with a friendly attitude and provide prompt, courteous service.
- Assist guests with questions about products, services, fuel, and merchandise.
- Use suggestive selling techniques to promote products and enhance the guest experience.
- Maintain familiarity with store products, pricing, promotions, and services.
- Resolve guest concerns professionally and seek assistance from leadership when needed.
- Provide the highest level of guest service to both guests and team members.
- Accurately operate the cash register and process cash, credit, debit, and other forms of payment according to company procedures.
- Maintain accurate cash handling practices and follow all register procedures.
- Operate lottery/lotto terminals according to company and state requirements.
- Follow all city, county, state, and federal regulations regarding alcohol, tobacco, lottery, and other regulated products.
- Follow all company policies and procedures related to fuel sales and point-of-sale operations.
- Stock shelves, racks, coolers, and other merchandise areas.
- Maintain clean and organized sales floor and cooler areas.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms and other guest areas.
- Clean windows, doors, and cooler doors.
- Empty trash from inside the store and surrounding lot areas.
- Change fountain drink syrup boxes as needed.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for guests and team members.
- Assist with additional store duties and projects as assigned by store leadership.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
- Properly handle cleaning chemicals and other materials.
- Maintain awareness of safety hazards and report concerns to leadership.
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations.
- Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Previous cashier, retail, convenience store, food service, or customer service experience is preferred but not required.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in and around the public.
- Ability to accurately handle cash and operate point-of-sale systems.
- Dependable, trustworthy, and team-oriented.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Ability to learn and follow company policies and procedures.
- Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with team members and leadership.
