Contract Period:
From 1 January 2027 to 31 December 2028.

Working hours:

Mondays to Thursdays: 7:30am to 5:00pm, inclusive of 1hr lunch break
Fridays: 7:30am to 4:30pm, inclusive of 1hr lunch break
Service not required on Saturdays, Sundays and gazetted public holidays

Scope of Services:

Laboratory Operations

Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Science laboratories and preparation room.
Maintain a clean, organised and safe laboratory environment.

Lesson & Programme Support

Prepare, set up and clear equipment, apparatus, specimens and materials for practical lessons, demonstrations and experiments.
Work closely with the HOD/Science and teachers to prepare resources for curriculum lessons, enrichment programmes and ad hoc Science activities.
Provide support during practical lessons where required.

Resource & Inventory Management

Maintain laboratory equipment, apparatus, models and teaching resources in good working condition.
Maintain accurate inventory, stock, usage and breakage records
Conduct annual stocktaking and recommend the purchase or replacement of equipment and consumables.
Support the procurement of science apparatus, equipment and consumables by monitoring stock levels, preparing purchase requests, obtaining quotations where required, verifying deliveries and updating inventory records.
Report faulty or damaged equipment promptly.

Laboratory Safety

Ensure the safe storage, handling and proper record-keeping of chemicals.
Maintain laboratory safety equipment and report safety hazards immediately.
Uphold safe laboratory practices and comply with school safety procedures.

Administrative Support

Manage the distribution and collection of science teaching and learning resources, including teachers' desk copies.
Support Science-related programmes such as E2K, Green Club, STEM activities and other departmental initiatives.
Perform other laboratory-related duties assigned by the HOD/Science or School Leaders.

Qualifications and experience:

Preferably 3 years of working experience in an educational institution providing Science laboratory assistance.

A minimum of GCE O-Level qualification with a pass in at least one Science subject, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Candidates with a qualification in a Science or Science-related field is preferred

Able to work independently as a science laboratory assistant, preferably in an educational institution, demonstrating proficiency in laboratory equipment handling, safety procedures, inventory management, and basic IT skills for record-keeping.
