Staff Accountant

Job Title: Staff Accountant

Location: Houma, LA

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for compiling and analyzing financial data to prepare entries to various general ledger accounts while documenting business transactions.

• Preparing and maintaining financial reports such as balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other summaries to reflect the company's current and projected financial position.
• Analyzing yard cost and evaluating job cost in order to be able to work with the project managers and collaborate on an accurate estimate at completion for current yard projects.
• Help with time entry and accounts payable invoices as needed.
• Help with invoicing of projects
• Help gather requested data from auditors
• Preparing sales tax returns.

• A bachelor's degree in accounting or in an associated field.
• A minimum of 2 years of accounting experience is preferred.

• Hands-on experience with general ledger (GL) functions, balance sheet, and income statement preparation, fixed asset tracking, and project costing is preferred.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly MS Excel.
• Experience with Oracle is a plus.
