Key Responsibilities Prepare, submit, and manage environmental permit applications (e.g., Clean Water Act Sections 401/404, Coastal Use Permits, stormwater permits).Conduct environmental compliance reviews for projects to ensure adherence to applicable regulations.
Perform wetland delineations in accordance with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) methodology, including identification of hydrophytic vegetation, hydric soils, and wetland hydrology indicators.
Prepare wetland delineation reports and jurisdictional determination requests.
Coordinate with regulatory agencies such as the USACE, EPA, state environmental departments, and local permitting authorities.
Assist with environmental impact assessments, mitigation planning, and monitoring programs.
Conduct field investigations including habitat assessments, site inspections, and environmental sampling.
Provide guidance to project teams regarding environmental constraints and permitting requirements.
Track regulatory changes and advise management on compliance strategies.
Maintain accurate records and documentation related to permits, inspections, and regulatory communications.
Working Conditions Combination of office and field work Fieldwork may include exposure to wetlands, forests, uneven terrain, and varying weather
Occasional lifting of equipment and extended time outdoors
Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum 2 years of experience in environmental permitting or regulatory compliance.
Completion of a recognized wetland delineation training program
Demonstrated experience performing wetland delineations using USACE Regional Supplements (experience in applicable region preferred).Knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations, including the Clean Water Act, NEPA, and ESA.Experience preparing technical reports and permit applications.
Strong understanding of ecological principles, particularly wetlands and aquatic resources.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to field sites.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with GPS data collection, GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS), and mapping tools.
Familiarity with coastal zone management regulations.
Experience working in consulting, industry, or government regulatory environments.
Skills & Competencies Strong technical writing and documentation skills
Knowledge of environmental permitting processes and timelines
Excellent communication and stakeholder coordination abilities
