Facilities Superintendent

A Facilities Superintendent plays a crucial role in the maintenance and management of building systems and infrastructure. They are responsible for ensuring that all facilities operate efficiently and safely. This position often involves a combination of technical expertise and managerial skills, with responsibilities ranging from overseeing maintenance to implementing improvements that enhance functionality and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise the facilities department staff and external subcontractors
• Design, implement, and manage facility upgrades and renovations
• Supervise routine maintenance and repairs of building systems
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
• Develop and manage budgets for maintenance and operational expenses
• Coordinate with contractors and service providers for specialized tasks
• Monitor and evaluate building systems for performance and efficiency
• Prepare reports on facility operations and maintenance activities
• Conduct facility inspections to identify issues and implement corrective actions
• Implement energy-saving initiatives and sustainability programs
• Ensure proper functioning of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems
• Plan and oversee facility layout alterations and modifications
• Respond to emergency situations involving facility infrastructure
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance work and facility modifications
• Collaborate with other departments to support operational needs
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, Facility Management, or related field and/or related course work or equivalent experience plus a minimum of three (3) to five (5) years' experience in the field required.
• A minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience required
• Shipbuilding industry experience preferred

Skills and Abilities:

• Familiarity with industry safety standards and regulations
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software
• Understanding of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems
• Strong analytical and organizational skills
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
