POSITION SUMMARY
The Credit Department Assistant provides clerical and operational support to the Credit Department by performing daily tasks related to loan processing, financial documentation, and record maintenance. This role ensures accurate and timely handling of financial information, assists with loan and appraisal processes, and supports internal staff with credit-related activities. The position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage confidential information.
DUTIESAND RESPONSIBILITIES Loan & Credit Support
- Prepare renewal packages for loan officers on maturing loans
- Assist with daily tasks associated with new and existing loans
- Request financial statements and other required documentation from customers
- Maintain a database for financial statements and ensure information remains current
- Spread and update financial information for internal use and customer communication
- Monitor asset-based lines of credit, including processing advances and payments
- Request and monitor accounts receivable aging reports
- Maintain accounts receivable logs
- Monitor floor plan financing in accordance with established procedures
- Perform on-site and off-site accounts receivable audits as required
- Scan, index, and file appraisals, evaluations, confirmations, and revalidations
- Re-index appraisals under new loan numbers as needed
- Assist as backup for appraisal-related functions
- Maintain and update property descriptions
- Ensure loan and appraisal documentation is accurate and complete
- Scan, index, and file financial statements, tax returns, and supporting documents
- Maintain organized records of all credit-related documentation
- Ensure confidentiality and accuracy of all stored information
- Communicate professionally with customers via phone, email, and mail regarding financial documentation and appraisals
- Provide excellent customer service and maintain a high level of professionalism
- Answer incoming calls promptly and route inquiries appropriately
- Assist Credit Department Supervisor, Credit Analysts, Loan Operations Director, Chief Credit Officer, lenders, loan assistants, and Compliance Officer as needed
- Maintain a strong understanding of bank products and services to support cross-selling efforts
- Coordinate with internal departments to support credit and loan processes
- Follow all bank, department, and security policies and procedures
- Maintain confidentiality of all customer and bank information
- Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and ethical behavior
- Perform additional duties as assigned
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting preferred
- Relevant experience in banking, accounting, or credit operations preferred
- Effectively communicate with directors, management, employees, auditors, examiners, and customers in both verbal and written formats.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- General knowledge of banking systems (e.g., CSI)
- Understanding of personal and corporate financial statements and tax returns
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Professional appearance and demeanor
- Ability to work at a computer for extended periods
- Ability to interact with customers and staff through various communication methods
- Ability to squat or reach to access files and supplies
- Ability to lift approximately 10–30 pounds as needed
- Ability to travel for off-site audits as required
- Ability to remain attentive and focused throughout the workday
- Ability to follow instructions and procedures accurately
- Ability to make sound decisions and respond appropriately in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to handle confidential information responsibly
