Summary/Objective

This position is responsible for completing tasks and activities associated with programming and operating equipment as assigned by Shop Foreman.

Essential Functions
  • Works collaboratively with all members of the fabrication crew.
  • Ability to learn the full scope of the job and is able to execute tasks with, and in some instances, without supervision.
  • Responsible for maintaining an organized, clean, and safe jobsite in conjunction with company policies.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and knowledgeably with Fabrication Manager, Shop Foreman, and all fabrication personnel.
  • Ability to learn how to read and interpret field drawings, then program and operate cutting systems according to such documents.
  • Performs most aspects of equipment operations including some programming, preparing materials, equipment start‑up, operation, and equipment shut‑down/cleaning.
  • Ability to learn computer programming for duct fittings.
  • Ability to identify maintenance needs on equipment and inform Shop Foreman.
  • Ability to complete all required paperwork associated with the job in an accurate and timely manner including but not limited to timesheets and pull from inventory sheets.
  • Ability to identify possible delays, problems, and errors associated with the project and report to Shop Foreman.
  • Ability to receive guidance and training from Equipment Operator I.
  • Ability to listen and complete tasks assigned by Shop Foreman.
  • Ability to operate large equipment when necessary (example forklift).
  • Ability to own and operate all tools necessary to perform job duties.
  • Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

This position operates in the shop at LeBlanc & Associates. It is subject to environmental changes of heat and cold. It is necessary to work around welding, smoke, and in environments where increased safety measures are necessary.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, bend and twist, crouch or crawl;

talk, hear and smell. Multi‑level climbing may be required. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/ Expected Hours of Work

This is a full‑time position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm, but schedules may change seasonally to encompass weather conditions and project schedules. This position regularly requires long hours and weekend work in order to meet business needs.

Travel

Travel is normally not required, but may be necessary for special projects and tasks.

Required Education, Certificates and Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent Forklift Certification

1-2 years’ verifiable experience in sheet metal fabrication

Preferred

Education and Experience

3+ years’ verifiable experience in sheet metal fabrication

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Collaboration skills are essential to function in this position. Maintains all safety requirements to safely perform all duties required of the position.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance (if applicable)

Transportation Worker Identification Credential Card (TWIC) may be required.
