Essential Duties / Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate conventional, special purpose machining centers to repair and fabricate parts.
  • Interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
  • Measure, mark, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining.
  • Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers.
  • Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
  • Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjust machine controls or control media as required.
  • Operate saw, undercutting saw, and handheld plasma.
  • Operate welding and fabricating equipment to cut or weld parts.
  • Develop specifications from general description and draw sketch of part or product to be fabricated.
  • Confere with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
  • Perform quality assurance on own and team members’ work.
  • Troubleshoot and perform maintenance on machines.
  • Verify conformance of finished workpiece to specifications.
  • Verify dimensions and alignment of assembly.
  • Set up and operate machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
  • Communicate with vendors on parts and materials.
  • Complete required paperwork for each job accurately and on a timely basis.
  • Operate company equipment (i.e.: Forklift, Crane, hand tools etc.) in a safe and efficient manner in the performance of all duties as required.
  • Comply with all company policies / procedures and perform all job functions in an ethical manner.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean and orderly work area that is free of hazards.
  • Complete all required safety training.
  • Perform all applicable duties in accordance with ISO procedures, if required.
  • Perform other skilled or non-skilled duties as directed by management.
Job Requirements
  • Must pass all required pre-employment screenings – Background, MVR, Physical, Drug screen.
  • Must be able to comply with all drug and alcohol policies of Houma Armature Works and/or customer-sponsored programs.
  • Subject to random drug and alcohol screenings.
  • Must be willing to work evenings and/or weekends, if required.
  • Be available for and successfully complete all required training.
  • Be able to operate motor vehicles in compliance with all state and federal requirements, if travel required.
  • Possess valid identification.
  • Travel between Texas and Louisiana locations, if required.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
