Job Overview
Ochsner Health is seeking a Registered Nurse to lead and coordinate patient care using the Nursing Process within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nurses, and Scope & Standards of Practice. The RN will delegate, direct, and assist licensed and ancillary team members, ensuring quality patient outcomes and supporting the organization’s nursing philosophy.
Responsibilities- Effectively use the Nursing Process in the delivery of patient care.
- Assess learning needs and implement teaching strategies tailored to the diverse needs of patients, families, and multidisciplinary groups.
- Communicate, delegate, and manage nursing team resources (human and fiscal) and serve as a leader and partner on the Interdisciplinary Team.
- Utilize data, information, and knowledge to evaluate and promote change for optimal outcomes.
- Embrace concepts and behaviors that enhance customer satisfaction and employee morale and support nursing profession improvement.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Education
Required:
Registered Nurse Diploma
Preferred:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
Work Experience
Required:
None
Certifications
Required:
Current RN license in the state of practice
Additional requirement:
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
Preferred:
Certification in a clinical specialty area
- Proficient computer skills with data entry and retrieval of patient information.
- Proficiency with Windows-style applications and role‑specific software.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to present information clearly to diverse audiences.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Excellent time‑management skills.
Heavy work requiring occasional or frequent lifting of 25–100 pounds to move objects. Duties include exposure to blood, body fluids, and tissue, and potential contact with communicable diseases and hazardous medications. The role requires compliance with all applicable safety and regulatory standards.
