Nurse Practitioner, Healthcare Nursing
In this role, you will work in a collaborative model with residents, fellows, attendings, and staff who care for outpatient clinic patients. You will work under the supervision of the Medical Director or approved staff physician and in association with PCCs, staff nurses, and discharge coordinators in planning, implementation, and evaluation of medical and nursing care. You assume responsibility for primary and urgent medical management, emergency stabilization of critically ill patients, teaching of residents and medical students, staff development and education, patient education and discharge planning.
Education- Nurse Practitioner: Master’s degree in Nursing
- Physician Assistant: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physician Assistant medicine or Health Sciences, or graduate of an approved Physician Assistant Training Program
- Required: None
- Preferred: 3 years’ related working experience
- Nurse Practitioner: Current license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the state of practice;
Family or Adult/Geriatric Nurse Practitioner certification (ANCC or AANPCP);
Family or Pediatric Nurse Practitioner certification (ANCC or AANPCP);
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) / Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association;
Eligible for prescriptive authority as outlined by the state board of nursing. - Physician Assistant: License as a Physician Assistant in the state of practice; NCCPA certification;
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) / Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association;
Eligible for prescriptive authority as outlined by the state board of nursing.
- Computer skills for data entry and information retrieval.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to present information clearly and professionally.
- Proficiency with Windows-based applications and role‑specific software packages.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Working knowledge of Advanced Practice Provider policies and protocols at departmental, campus, and system levels.
- Reliable transportation; ability to travel among facilities.
- Flexibility to work a varying schedule, including 24/7, weekend, holiday, and on‑call availability.
- Utilize the approved medical practices process for patient care delivery.
- Deliver care based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety, and related criteria appropriate to the age groups served.
- Maintain a culture of inquiry to improve medical practices and patient outcomes; may develop research methodology.
- Provide education to patient families, staff, other health professionals, and the community.
- Adapt communication and behavior to the patient population, respecting privacy and using clear explanations of services or procedures.
- Perform related duties as required.
The role requires moderate physical effort, including lifting up to 20–50 pounds occasionally, and may involve standing for prolonged periods, stooping, bending, reaching, and manual dexterity. Exposure to blood, body fluids, and tissue is part of routine duties. There may be occupational risk for hazardous medication handling and exposure to communicable diseases.
