About This Job
District 02-Unit 721 – Mechanical Maintenance and Repair Technician for all fixed and movable bridges throughout the Bridge City Area. No experience or training is required, but a valid Louisiana Class "D" Chauffeur’s License is required prior to appointment.
Responsibilities- Perform general repairs to all movable structures, including mechanical repairs within the Bridge Operator house, tune‑ups, oil and filter changes, preventive maintenance, component replacements, and adjustments of worn or damaged parts.
- Start, operate, and perform safety and maintenance checks on a wide variety of equipment, facility standby generators, vehicles, and crew boats.
- Conduct preventive maintenance for all movable bridges in District 02/Bridge City, greasing and replacing worn parts, and inspecting all mechanical components.
- Perform structural repairs to fixed steel or concrete structures, traffic control duties, and operate workboats as needed.
- Be on call for emergency repair, bridge openings, or other support activities; manually operate drawbridges within District 02/Bridge City.
No experience or training is required. A valid Louisiana Class "D" Chauffeur’s License is required before appointment.

Career Progression: Vacancies may be filled as a Trades Apprentice, Maintenance Repairer 1 or Maintenance Repairer 2 depending on the level of experience. Maximum salary for Maintenance Repairer 2 is $6,136.00.
Work Schedule: Work hours may vary.
Compensation:
- Trades Apprentice: $16.06 hourly
- Maintenance Repairer 1: $17.18 hourly
- Maintenance Repairer 2: $19.67 hourly
