Equipment Operator

Description

The Equipment Operator is responsible for the operation of various equipment (Combilifts, hydraulic cherry pickers, forklifts, overhead cranes, etc.) within our warehouse, shop and yard.

• Operate and utilize the Combilift, overhead crane, cherry picker and/or forklift to pick up and move heavy objects and materials
• Inspect all equipment prior to operation to ensure that it has proper lubricants, fuel, etc., and to report any problems that will need immediate attention by the mechanic / maintenance department
• Check switches and gears to ensure that the equipment operates safely
• Utilize foot, hand and steering controls on various equipment
• Operate all equipment safely and efficiently
• Perform rigging duties on occasions when riggers are not available to set‑up for certain lifting assignments
• Perform general labor around the warehouse, shop and yard
• Follow instructions and job assignments with little or no supervision
• Perform other duties assigned by supervisor

• 1+ years experience in operating equipment in an industrial or yard environment
• Willingness to learn and help
• Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen and physical

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Experience operating a Combilift is helpful

80 to 90% of the work activities are performed outdoors. Individuals will be required to work in changing temperatures, hot, cold, humid, wet and dry conditions, dust, mud, etc. They will also be exposed to paint thinner and paint fumes.
