Job Summary

The role involves preventative and corrective field mechanical service on motors, generators, breakers, control panels, and other rotating electrical equipment at client locations worldwide.
Job DescriptionProvides preventative and corrective field mechanical service on motors, generators, breakers and control panels, and other rotating electrical equipment at client locations.
Job duties include the following:
- Work primarily off‑site with minimal supervision; use diagnostic tooling and literature to troubleshoot machine systems and components.
- Travel to customer sites worldwide by vehicle, helicopter, plane, boat, etc., for extended periods as required.
- Work as needed at an in‑house service center when not in the field.
- Prepare reports to maintain accurate records of equipment and preventive maintenance activities.
- Maintain accurate and thorough service records, legibly transfer them to Service Repair Orders (SRO) upon completion, and communicate with the Service Manager.
- Communicate diagnosis and repair options to customer agents and obtain proper authorization.
- Work within all company safety parameters and customer safety programs while on site.
- Maintain weekly paperwork and timesheets.
- Apply knowledge of generator theory, HMI panels, low‑voltage control panels, wiring diagram construction, analog and digital control systems, Automatic Voltage Regulator operations, and panel paralleling/ non‑paralleling control.
- Engage in 24/7 on‑call status, including weekends and overtime as required.
- Perform all duties in accordance with ISO procedures when applicable.
- Perform other skilled or non‑skilled duties as directed by management.
- Pass all required pre‑employment screenings – background, MVR, physical, drug screen, and fit‑for‑duty physical.
- Comply with all company drug and alcohol policies and customer‑sponsored programs; subject to random screenings.
- Be willing to work evenings, weekends, and overtime as required.
- Complete all required training, both in‑house and off‑site.
- Operate motor vehicles in compliance with state and federal requirements; possess a valid driver’s license and, if required, a passport and TWIC card.
- Maintain reliable transportation with required insurance coverage.
- Work in a shop environment or accompany senior technicians for a training period of at least six months before field assignments.
- Travel 75% of the time; travel may involve extended periods away from home.
- Be proficient with and willing to learn computer software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Windows, and OEM software.
- High school diploma required; one‑year certificate from technical school preferred; or six to twelve months of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
