Structural Fitter - Fabrication Yard

Main Purpose

The Structural Fitter is required and / or assigned to fabricate iron and steel structures in accordance with contract / job specifications, quality assurance requirements, fitting procedures and established International Organization for Standardization (ISO) / Quality Control (QC) program standards.

• Measure, cut, fit and / or install iron and steel braces, beams, plates and pipe in accordance to blueprint and job specifications schedules.
• Follow fitting procedures and principles used in the fabrication of offshore jackets, decks and production facilities.
• Interpret blueprint and specifications schedules.
• Perform mathematical calculations, including but not limited to addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, angles etc.
• Utilize cutting torches, measuring tapes, calculators, levels, man-lifts and / or high-reach equipment, welding machines, chipping hammers, pressure chippers, power grinders etc.
• Follow written and / or verbal instructions with little or no supervision.
• Perform job duties in a safe and efficient manner.
• Perform other duties assigned by supervisor.

• 2+ years experience in fitting
• Must be able to successfully demonstrate the ability to pass a written and practical fitter test
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
• Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen
• Must be able to pass a background check

• High school diploma or equivalent

80 to 90% of the work activities are performed outdoors. Individuals will be required to work in changes of temperature, hot, cold, humid, wet, and dry conditions, dust, mud, etc. They will also be exposed to paint thinner and paint fumes.
