Pipe and Structural Welder Offshore
Gulf Island Houma, Louisiana, United States
About this positionThe primary responsibility of the Pipe and Structural Welder Offshore is to fabricate structural and piping materials in accordance with contract and quality assurance specifications. They weld fittings, components, and structural elements safely and efficiently.
Essential Functions- Set and operate welding machines for applicable processes
- Weld structural, pipe, and welding projects using appropriate techniques
- Pass required welding tests per AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX, and API 1104
- Maintain quality that meets NDT testing procedures
- Use hand tools (chipping hammers, grinders, etc.) as needed
- Weld aluminum, stainless steel, cast iron, carbon steel, and other alloys
- Select and install torches, torch tips, filler rods, and flux based on specifications
- Determine equipment and welding methods, applying knowledge of welding techniques
- Operate regulator valves to adjust gas flow and pressure
- Monitor fitting, burning, and welding to avoid overheating, warping, or distortion
- Safely transport welding equipment to work areas
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

- Minimum of 2 years of welding experience

- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Valid TWIC card
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Welding machines, man lifts, chipping and grinding equipment, cutting torches, welding leads, welding whips, and welding guns
- Proper safety equipment (welding shields, goggles, hard hats, etc.)
Approximately 80–90% of work is performed outdoors. Workers must tolerate temperature changes, hot, cold, humid, wet, and dry conditions, dust, mud, and potential exposure to fumes from paint, diesel, or gas.
