POSITION
PURPOSE:
Empower young learners with disabilities through engaging, individualized, and developmentally appropriate instruction designed to build foundational skills, address identified developmental needs, and support each child's growth across academic, social, emotional, communication, and physical domains. Create and sustain a nurturing, inclusive, and safe learning environment where children with disabilities can thrive through individualized, play-based, and specially designed instruction. Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with state and federal special education law, and partner with related service providers, colleagues, families, and the community to foster each child's full potential during these critical early years.

EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university, with a focus in Early Childhood Special Education, Special Education, Child Development, or a related field.
- Experience teaching or working with young children with disabilities is preferred.
- Experience with individualized instruction, developmentally appropriate practice, IEP development and implementation, assistive technology, and learning management systems is preferred.
- Valid Missouri Teaching Certificate in Early Childhood Special Education (Birth-Grade
3).
- Strong knowledge of early childhood development, disability categories, developmentally appropriate practice, specially designed instruction, classroom management, communication skills, data interpretation, and interpersonal abilities.
- Working knowledge of IDEA, Missouri special education requirements, and the IEP process.
- Understanding of early literacy, early numeracy, communication development, and social-emotional development milestones, including how disabilities may affect each area.

- Design and deliver engaging, individualized, and developmentally appropriate lessons and learning experiences aligned to each child's IEP goals and, where appropriate, early learning standards.
- Provide specially designed instruction and use evidence-based practices to address identified delays or disabilities in cognitive, communication, physical, social-emotional, and adaptive development.
- Implement play-based learning, center-based activities, hands‑on exploration, cooperative learning, assistive technology, and innovative resources to enhance student learning and access to the general early childhood curriculum.
- Support the development of fine motor, gross motor, self‑help, communication, and school‑readiness skills through structured and unstructured activities, adapting materials and routines as needed.
- Incorporate diverse social and cultural perspectives on content, including students' own language, culture, family, and community, into learning experiences.
- Promote inclusion by collaborating with general early childhood staff to support children with disabilities in the least restrictive environment.
- Utilize disciplinary research, inquiry methodologies, and theory‑and‑research‑based early childhood special education strategies.
- Develop, implement, and progress‑monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), 504 plans, and individualized health plans.
