Job Title: Staff Accountant
Location: Houston, TX
Compensation: $65,000 – $70,000 / year
Benefits: This position may be eligible for medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).
We are seeking a detail‑oriented Staff Accountant to join our growing finance team. This role is responsible for supporting day‑to‑day accounting operations, maintaining accurate financial records, and assisting with month‑end and year‑end close processes. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in accounting principles, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams. As the role develops, the Staff Accountant will take on expanded responsibilities within the accounting function, offering opportunities for long‑term growth.
Key Responsibilities General Ledger & Accounting Support- Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger in accordance with GAAP
- Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts, investigating and resolving discrepancies
- Assist with month‑end and year‑end close activities, including accruals, reconciliations, and variance analysis
- Support the preparation of financial statements and internal reporting
- Provide backup and support for accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed
- Assist with invoice processing, billing, cash application, and account reconciliations
- Prepare supporting schedules and financial reports for management review
- Assist with budget tracking, expense analysis, and ad hoc financial analysis
- Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and accounting standards
- Assist with audit requests and documentation
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiencies
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
- 1–3 years of accounting experience required
- Strong understanding of general accounting principles and GAAP
- Experience with ERP or accounting systems (Dynamics preferred)
- Strong Excel skills required (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs)
- Experience with reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
