The Role
The Senior Accountant plays a critical role in managing and strengthening the company’s accounting operations within a fast‑paced logistics environment. This position is responsible for overseeing core accounting functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance of financial records, supporting month‑end and year‑end close processes, and partnering closely with operations and finance leadership to provide actionable financial insights. The role requires strong attention to detail, a solid understanding of cost accounting and logistics‑related expenses, and the ability to work cross‑functionally across multiple locations.
Responsibilities- Perform assigned general ledger tasks and balance‑sheet reconciliations, ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial transactions.
- Review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
- Complete month‑end and year‑end close processes, including reconciliations, accruals, and journal entries.
- Analyze logistics and operational costs, including warehousing, transportation, and labor expenses.
- Review and reconcile balance‑sheet accounts, investigating and resolving variances.
- Assist with external and compliance audits, providing documentation and responding to audit inquiries.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Partner with operations leaders to improve cost visibility, controls, and financial reporting accuracy.
- Assist in identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and scalability within accounting operations.
- Assist integrating merged and acquired businesses into the accounting system and implementing accounting policies and procedures.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 10 or more years of progressive general accounting experience within a multi‑site operational environment.
- Strong knowledge of journal entries, U.S. GAAP, and financial reporting.
- Experience with general ledger, account reconciliations, and financial close processes.
- Proficiency with accounting systems and advanced Excel skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross‑functionally with non‑finance teams.
- Experience in logistics, transportation, warehousing, or distribution industries.
- CPA is a plus.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
- Sage Intacct experience.
$90,000—$110,000 USD
