Our client is seeking a highly skilled Controller to lead accounting and financial operations for a rapidly growing real estate and property management organization. This position plays a key role in financial reporting, compliance, budgeting, and strategic decision support. The ideal candidate brings strong accounting expertise, leadership ability, and a proactive approach to improving systems and processes.
Responsibilities- Oversee and manage the month-end close process, including reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting across multiple entities
- Prepare consolidated financial statements, audit schedules, and supporting documentation for internal and external reporting
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and internal controls
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, treasury functions, and cash flow forecasting
- Develop and maintain financial systems, reporting tools, and standardized accounting procedures
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines
- Partner with leadership to establish budgets, track performance, and identify areas for improvement
- Oversee tax filings, franchise reports, and other required submissions
- Lead process improvement initiatives, software implementations, and system integrations within the finance department
- Serve as liaison with external auditors, banks, and financial partners
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA preferred
- 5+ years of experience in a Controller or senior accounting leadership role
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and accounting regulations
- Experience managing multi-entity accounting structures
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software;
Yardi or similar property management system experience a plus - Exceptional communication, leadership, and analytical skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with precision and attention to detail
