Role Summary/
Purpose:
As a Staff Accountant at Dresser Utility Solutions, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting and close processes. Your responsibilities will include supporting core accounting functions, with a focus on general ledger entries, reports, reconciliations, and financial consolidation. This position receives assignments from and works closely with the Financial Reporting Manager and applies generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) to prepare, record and review financial information.
Responsibilities:
- Assist and support financial reporting manager with monthly close activity, ensuring financial data is complete, properly recorded, and aligned with accounting standards.
- Ensure journal entries and accruals are accurate and well-supported, with clear audit trails and documentation.
- Maintain the integrity of intercompany balances and transactions, and ensure timely reconciliation across business units.
- Prepares monthly supporting schedules and reports for management.
- Prepare and assist in the consolidation of financial statements, ensuring completeness and accuracy across all reporting units.
- Assist in analyzing consolidated financial results.
- Ensure data integrity within the accounting system, including accurate loading and validation of financial data.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum 3 years of relevant accounting or finance experience
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting processes.
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills and ability to work cross functionally
- Proficient use of financial systems and analysis tools including Microsoft Office (e.g. Excel, Word).
Desired Characteristics:
- 2+ years of previous experience with a reputable accounting firm, preferably with exposure to manufacturing-related business.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to analyze financial data and trends.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Strong proficiency in Excel and other relevant accounting applications.
