Support Accountant

Our client, a leading company in the upstream oil and gas industry, is seeking an experienced Support Accountant to join their International Accounting team. This position will provide critical accounting support for operations across the Gulf region and offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment supporting international business initiatives.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives with minimal supervision, has strong analytical skills, and brings a solid background in upstream oil and gas accounting.

Key Responsibilities of the Support Accountant:

• Support monthly close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals.
• Prepare sales invoices and assist with accounts payable processes.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis related to capital expenditures and operating results.
• Manage Joint Interest Billing (JIB) activities and related reporting.
• Calculate DD&A and support capital project tracking.
• Assist with VAT filings, allocation entries, debit notes, and vendor/AFE setup.
• Collaborate with operational teams on special projects and financial analysis.

Qualifications of the Support Accountant:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 5+ years of accounting experience within upstream oil and gas.
• Experience with JIB, monthly close, and financial reporting.
• Knowledge of US GAAP and/or IFRS.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite; SQL experience is a plus.
• CPA designation is preferred.
