Staff Accountant – Graylog
Part‑time position based in Houston, Texas – approximately 20 hours per week. Report to the Controller.
Responsibilities- Manage day‑to‑day accounting tasks, including processing accounts payable invoices, expense reimbursements, and accounts receivable transactions throughout the month.
- Monitor and assist in collections of overdue receivables.
- Perform timely bank account reconciliations, including daily cash postings and month‑end reconciliations.
- Complete month‑end processes such as reconciliations and journal entries for accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, accounts payable, cash, and payroll related accounts.
- Support the accounting function in maintaining a 5‑business day close.
- Assist the Accounting Manager with bi‑monthly payroll processing, including new hire and term payroll information.
- Manage multiple email inboxes for general accounting inquiries, invoice inquiries from customers, and payroll inquiries from employees.
- Support the Accounting Manager in state payroll tax compliance.
- Assist in preparation and documentation for the annual audit.
- Identify, recommend, and initiate process improvements and enhancements where applicable.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in accounting or finance roles.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as Quick Books Online, , Asana, Subscript, Gusto, Expensify, and advanced MS Excel skills.
- Thorough understanding of accounting principles and financial concepts.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a team environment.
- Detail‑oriented with a high level of accuracy in work.
- Primarily remote with flexibility to be in the office a couple of times per month as needed.
