Accounts Payable Clerk

Description We are looking for an Accounts Payable Clerk to join a real estate and property organization in Houston, Texas on a contract basis with the potential for a permanent position. This position supports day-to-day payables operations by reviewing invoice details, maintaining accurate financial records, and helping ensure timely payments to vendors. The ideal candidate brings a solid foundation in accounts payable and is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment that values accuracy, organization, and follow-through.

Responsibilities:

- Review incoming invoices for completeness, assign the appropriate coding, and enter payment details accurately into the accounting system.

- Process vendor invoices in a timely manner while verifying supporting documentation and resolving discrepancies before payment is issued.

- Prepare and assist with scheduled check runs to help ensure vendors are paid according to agreed terms.

- Maintain organized accounts payable records, including invoice files and related documentation such as lien waivers.

- Communicate with internal teams and external vendors to answer payment questions and follow up on outstanding items.

- Reconcile payable transactions and identify inconsistencies so issues can be corrected promptly.

- Support ongoing process updates within the payable function when needed, including adjustments tied to system or workflow changes.

- Help uphold internal controls by following established procedures for approvals, documentation, and payment processing. Requirements - At least 1 year of experience in accounts payable or a closely related accounting support role.

- Hands-on experience coding invoices and processing high-volume payables with strong attention to detail.

- Familiarity with check runs, invoice verification, and payment documentation procedures.

- Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines in a fast-moving office environment.

- Working knowledge of lien waivers and their use in payment processing is preferred.

- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with vendors and internal stakeholders.

- Basic proficiency with accounting systems and standard office software used for financial tracking and reporting.
