We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Development Accountant to join our client's growing team. This mid-level role supports both their Corporate and Development departments,
combining core accounting functions—including general ledger maintenance, bank
reconciliations, and journal entries—with active involvement in the loan draw process, accounts
payable, and project-level financial tracking. The ideal candidate brings 2–4 years of experience
in construction or property management accounting and is comfortable working cross-
functionally across internal teams. This role reports to the Assistant Controller – Retail
Development. Light property management responsibilities, such as posting rent, security
deposits, and prepaid items, are also included.
Responsibilities Accounts Payable & Loan Draw Management- Receive, review, and process accounts payable invoices from vendors and subcontractors, routing them for approval.
- Log and track AP payments; prepare check runs and ACH/wire transfers for review.
- Assist with the monthly loan draw process, including compiling draw packages and supporting documentation.
- Respond to vendor and subcontractor inquiries, researching payment history as needed.
- Prepare and complete monthly bank reconciliations for multiple accounts.
- Post, review, and maintain journal entries and general ledger activity.
- Maintain recurring accounting schedules and internal spreadsheets.
- Track and analyze job costs for construction projects and property-related transactions.
- Post rent, security deposits, and prepaid items within property management software.
- Assist with tenant billing and revenue entries as needed.
- Support month-end close procedures, audit requests, and preparation of financial reports.
- Create ad hoc financial reports and assist with other special projects as assigned.
- Assist with administrative tasks including filing, scanning, and document management.
- Maintain shared spreadsheets and ensure data integrity across project files.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration preferred;
Associate’s degree with at least 2 years of directly relevant experience will be considered. - 2–4 years of accounting experience in construction or property management accounting.
- Experience with Rent Manager and Procore highly preferred; familiarity with SharePoint is a plus.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel required, including pivot tables and lookup functions; proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to work accurately under deadline pressure.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills; able to interact professionally with internal teams and external vendors.
