Accounts Payable Specialist

Description

We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to join a trust management firm in Houston, Texas on a contract basis. This opportunity is ideal for a detail-oriented finance candidate who brings strong accounting knowledge, hands-on experience with payables and receivables, and a careful approach to financial accuracy. The position will support core accounting operations, reporting activities, and day-to-day financial processes while collaborating closely with the broader team.

This is a contract only opportunity.

Responsibilities:

- Manage day-to-day accounts payable activities, including invoice review, payment processing, and vendor record maintenance.

- Assist with accounts receivable tasks, billing support, and the timely application of incoming payments.

- Perform account reconciliations and review financial records to identify and resolve discrepancies.

- Prepare accruals and support routine month-end accounting activities to ensure accurate reporting.

- Maintain accounting data within financial systems and help keep records complete, current, and properly organized.

- Contribute to auditing and financial review processes by gathering documentation and validating transaction details.

- Partner with internal team members to support budgeting, reporting, and other general accounting functions.

- Use Quick Books and Excel to track transactions, analyze data, and produce reliable financial information.

Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

- At least 3 years of experience in an accounting or finance role, with practical exposure to accounts payable responsibilities.

- Background in trust operations or a similar financial services environment is strongly preferred.

- Proficiency with Quick Books Desktop, Microsoft Excel, and other accounting software systems.

- Working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, and general accounting procedures.

- Strong analytical thinking, organizational ability, and attention to detail.

- Ability to manage multiple deadlines while maintaining accuracy in a fast-paced team setting.

- Effective written and verbal communication skills with a collaborative, detail-focused approach.
