Plant Accountant

Plant Accountant - Manufacturing | East Houston, TX

A Manufacturing company with operations across North America is seeking a hands-on Plant Accountant for their Houston facility, located just outside Beltway 8 on the East Side.  

This role offers the unique opportunity to not only manage plant-level accounting but also serve as a strategic partner to the Plant Manager and operations team, driving accountability, transparency, and operational insights.

Key Responsibilities

+ Lead month-end close activities for the Houston plant and related departments

+ Analyze plant production cost variances and understand key operational drivers

+ Collaborate with the Group Cost Accountant to ensure accurate month-end inventory balances

+ Prepare monthly working papers, financial reports, and supporting documentation

+ Develop and improve accounts payable processes across the group of companies

+ Train new accounting team members on standard procedures for manufacturing plants

+ Work closely with plant operations to improve processes and drive performance

Requirements

Requirements:

+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field (required)

+ 5+ years of accounting experience in a standard costing manufacturing environment (required)

+ ERP experience, preferably with Epicor or a similar system (required)

+ Strong leadership and communication skills; ability to work cross-functionally with operations

+ Highly analytical with strong problem-solving abilities

+ Attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines

+ Proficient in Excel (Advanced)

+ Professional integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality
