We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join a growing organization in Houston, Texas. This role will serve as a key member of the accounting and finance team, responsible for overseeing full-cycle accounting operations, inventory and cost accounting, tax compliance, financial reporting, and cash flow management. The ideal candidate is a hands‑on accounting professional who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and enjoys building processes, improving controls, and supporting business growth.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Manage full-cycle accounting functions, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, payroll processing, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
- Lead month‑end and year‑end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
- Track, reconcile, and manage inventory valuation and Cost of Goods Sold (COGS).
- Calculate and analyze landed costs, including freight, customs duties, tariffs, and related expenses.
- Develop and maintain cash flow forecasts to support operational and purchasing decisions.
- Monitor financial performance, identify trends, and provide recommendations to leadership.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial planning initiatives.
- Manage federal, state, and local tax compliance, including sales tax, property tax, and business‑related filings.
- Coordinate with external CPA firms, auditors, and tax professionals to support compliance and reporting requirements.
- Establish, maintain, and improve accounting processes, internal controls, and financial procedures.
- Partner cross‑functionally with operations and other departments to improve efficiencies and support organizational goals.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and applicable regulations.
- Support special projects and other accounting and finance initiatives as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and accounting best practices.
- Experience managing full-cycle accounting processes and month‑end close activities.
- Experience with inventory accounting, cost accounting, and COGS analysis.
- Knowledge of sales tax, business tax compliance, and multi‑state tax reporting requirements.
- Experience working with external auditors, CPA firms, and tax advisors.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, organizational, and time management skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software systems.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively across departments.
- CPA designation or CPA‑track preferred.
- Experience with ERP systems, inventory management systems, and tax automation platforms is a plus.
- Experience in manufacturing, distribution, inventory‑based, or product‑driven environments is preferred.
$115K-$120K
