Description:
This position is responsible for leading all aspects of upstream revenue accounting and reporting for Verdun. This role oversees the timely and accurate recording of hydrocarbon sales, purchaser settlements, owner distributions, production allocations, regulatory reporting, and revenue-related financial reporting. The position serves as a key leader within the accounting organization and partners closely with marketing, land, joint interest billing, corporate finance, and operations to ensure accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following satisfactorily.
* Responsible for leading the revenue accounting function by supervising, mentoring, and developing the revenue accounting personnel while fostering accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement across all operated and non-operated assets.
* Responsible for establishing departmental goals that identify opportunities to automate processes and improve workflow efficiency within accounting systems and related business processes, including the development of key performance indicators and reporting metrics to monitor revenue-cycle performance.
* Responsible for managing the monthly revenue close process, ensuring timely, complete, and accurate recognition of oil, gas, and natural gas liquids revenue transactions to enable the efficient preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP, internal policies and controls, and industry best practices.
* Responsible for overseeing purchaser statements, pricing verification, transportation deductions, gathering fees, quality adjustments, and settlement analysis.
* Responsible for reviewing and approving revenue accruals, receivables, production imbalances, and related journal entries.
* Responsible for assisting with the production of monthly asset-level operating and financial reporting packages for management, lenders, and investors.
* Responsible for overseeing royalty payments, working interest distributions, owner statements, and related payment processes.
* Responsible for coordinating ownership changes, division order implementation, and revenue deck maintenance while monitoring suspense balances and driving timely resolution of revenue and ownership discrepancies.
* Responsible for overseeing preparation and filing of FERC, state regulatory, severance tax, and other required reporting.
* Responsible for promoting internal control awareness, identifying control gaps, and implementing corrective measures where necessary.
* Responsible for facilitating internal and external audits and coordinating responses to auditor requests, including audits and reporting for reserve-based lending.
* Responsible for collaborating with multiple teams, including production accounting and marketing to reconcile production volumes and sales activity, land and division order to maintain ownership and title updates, and tax to assist with severance tax, ad valorem tax, and annual compliance initiatives.
* Responsible for maintaining strong oversight over the accuracy and completeness of revenue accounting data, reporting, and system configuration, including the support of integration of accounting information into corporate data management and reporting platforms.
* All other duties and tasks assigned by direct supervisor or manager.
Qualifications & Skills

Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting or comparable work experience.
6-10 years of progressive revenue accounting experience with operated and non-operated assets.
Experience supporting internal and external audits and financial reporting.
Other Skills
Prior management or supervisory experience.
Strong knowledge of revenue accounting principles and best practices.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong team-building and communication skills.
Computer & Software Skills
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite with expert-level Excel skills.
Strong knowledge of BOLO or experience with a comparable accounting system.
Power BI experience preferred.
Certificates and Licenses
CPA preferred.
