ABOUTTHE ROLE
Our Client is seeking an experienced Senior Manager, Revenue Accounting to lead a high‑performing revenue accounting team and serve as the organization's subject matter expert on revenue recognition. Reporting to the VP of Revenue Management, this leadership role is responsible for ensuring accurate and compliant revenue reporting while supporting a growing global SaaS business operating in complex commercial environments.
This position is based in Houston, Texas and follows a hybrid work model requiring a minimum of two days per week in the office.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Lead end‑to‑end revenue recognition under ASC 606 and IFRS 15 across SaaS subscriptions, professional services, usage‑based revenue, and revenue share arrangements.
- Apply the five‑step revenue recognition model to complex bundled offerings, multi‑year agreements, and variable consideration arrangements.
- Manage deferred revenue and unbilled revenue reconciliations across multiple entities, product lines, and revenue streams.
- Ensure timely and accurate month‑end close activities, reconciliations, and revenue reporting.
- Evaluate new and modified customer contracts to determine revenue recognition implications.
- Partner with Legal, Sales Operations, and Deal Desk teams to review non‑standard contract terms and provide accounting guidance.
- Prepare audit‑ready technical accounting memoranda supporting accounting conclusions and key judgments.
- Identify and document differences between ASC 606 and IFRS 15 to support dual‑GAAP reporting requirements.
- Lead accounting activities related to reseller, partner, and revenue share agreements.
- Perform principal versus agent assessments and determine appropriate gross versus net revenue presentation.
- Estimate and constrain variable consideration using appropriate accounting methodologies.
- Develop and maintain revenue waterfall models and support reconciliations to partner statements.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external auditors on all revenue‑related matters.
- Maintain audit‑ready documentation, including contract review frameworks and revenue system configurations.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and global accounting policies.
- Lead, mentor, coach, and develop a team of five revenue accounting professionals.
- Establish scalable processes and review frameworks that support continued organizational growth.
- Foster strong collaboration across Finance, Legal, Sales, and other cross‑functional stakeholders.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- CPA strongly preferred.
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Minimum of 4 years of revenue accounting experience within a SaaS or recurring revenue environment.
- Deep expertise applying ASC 606 revenue recognition guidance to complex commercial arrangements.
- Working knowledge of IFRS 15.
- Experience supporting multi‑GAAP or international reporting environments.
- Hands‑on experience with Net Suite, including Advanced Revenue Management (ARM).
- Strong technical accounting, analytical, leadership, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
- Experience with reseller, partner, or revenue share accounting arrangements.
- Experience with Salesforce CPQ or Workiva, or similar quote‑to‑cash platforms.
- Experience supporting international entities with multiple currencies and statutory reporting requirements.
- Experience leading Net Suite ARM implementations, upgrades, or major system enhancements.
- Accurate, compliant, and audit‑ready revenue reporting across global entities.
- Efficient month‑end close processes supported by strong internal controls.
- Scalable accounting processes capable of supporting increasingly complex commercial arrangements.
- Strong partnerships with commercial teams that enable business growth while appropriately managing accounting risk.
