Clayton Services is seeking an experienced Senior Controller to join a well-established and growing manufacturing company in Houston to lead its accounting and finance operations. Job Type: Direct HirePay Rate: $175,000 - $215,000/year plus annual bonus

Senior Controller Responsibilities:
- Lead all accounting operations, including general ledger, financial reporting, month-end and year-end close, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
- Establish structure, accountability, and best practices across the accounting department while improving overall efficiency and accuracy.
- Work alongside the accounting team to reduce close timelines and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting.
- Mentor, coach, and develop accounting staff while fostering a collaborative, supportive, and high-performing culture.
- Oversee all aspects of manufacturing accounting, including inventory, standard costing, job costing, work-in-process (WIP), and cost analysis.
- Develop and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures.
- Prepare annual budgets, financial forecasts, cash flow projections, and executive financial reporting.
- Partner with operations leadership to improve inventory accuracy, costing, profitability, and overall business performance.
- Coordinate annual financial reviews and work closely with external auditors and tax advisors.
- Evaluate existing accounting workflows and implement process improvements that increase efficiency and reduce manual effort.
- Support future systems modernization initiatives and help prepare the organization for long-term operational growth.
- Serve as a trusted business partner to executive leadership by providing financial insights and strategic recommendations.
- Assist with building and developing the accounting organization as the company continues to grow.
Skills and Abilities
:
- Demonstrated success improving accounting processes, internal controls, and departmental performance.
- Strong leadership, communication, coaching, and organizational skills.
- Comfortable working in a hands-on environment where collaboration, accountability, and problem-solving are essential.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- CPA strongly preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
- 5+ years of accounting leadership experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, inventory accounting, standard costing, job costing, and work-in-process (WIP).
- Experience working with legacy accounting systems and supporting ERP readiness or implementation initiatives is highly preferred.
