Assistant Controller

Talascend is currently seeking an Assistant Controller for a long-term contract role in Houston, TX.

This role will oversee key financial operations and support overall business functions. This role requires strong analytical skills, effective communication, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

• Manage full-cycle accounts receivable, including collections, aging reports, and cash application.
• Prepare accounts receivable projections and support financial forecasting.
• Process accounts payable transactions and ensure timely vendor payments.
• Administer payroll and maintain accurate employee compensation records.
• Prepare and file 1099 forms in compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Develop and maintain weekly cash flow reports.
• Perform bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Support human resources functions, including onboarding and employee documentation.
• Review and approve new customer credit applications.
• Manage and file Texas sales tax in accordance with state regulations.
• Process and review employee expense reports.
• Oversee inventory accounting and ensure accurate reporting.
• Monitor and manage multiple email inboxes to ensure timely communication.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and vendors.
• Supervise and support one team member.
• Assist management with special projects and ad hoc financial analysis.

• Proven experience in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general accounting principles.
• Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
